Joe’s employer has started offering Vdio as part of his benefits. When Vdio looks at his conditions, it considers how they impact each other. Constructing a personalized curriculum, it invites him to learn more about managing his conditions through a series of short videos.
Joe is surprised that he enjoys the classes – the videos are made with real people, not actors. And those people are facing the same issues he is. As he learns that it’s possible to manage his conditions and feel better, he starts to get motivated.
At the end of each class, he takes a quick test to make sure he understands the content. When he completes all the classes in his personal curriculum, he’s rewarded with a graduation gift.
Joe learns that HE is the captain of his care team. He asks questions to be sure he understands his care plan. He weighs himself and checks his blood pressure first thing every morning and keeps a log of his numbers. He finds out about other ways to manage his conditions on a daily basis, like limiting his sugar, salt and alcohol and checking his blood sugar.
The more he learns, the more in control Joe feels. Now he’s taking steps to reduce his risks for future complications. He’s exercising most days – and going longer distances each week. He’s getting more vegetables in his diet, taking his meds on schedule, keeping his doctor appointments and he’s staying out of the emergency department. His family and friends are noticing he’s not only slimmer, he’s more optimistic.
